Making Your Website More CompetitiveYou have completed the optimization of your website and should soon be reaping the benefits with higher rankings and more traffic, but we’re not quite done yet.  More than likely, when you were doing your keyword competition research you found out there were keywords your website was not going to be able to compete for right now.  You may have also found that even after completing the optimization of your site, there are some keywords for which you optimized which you still don’t rank as highly for as you’d like.  So, it’s time to do something about that.

linkSearch rankings are determined by several different factors.  The most important of those factors are on-page optimization (which you have just completed) and links.

In order to increase the competitiveness of your web pages you need to get more links pointing to those pages.  This can be done in a variety of ways both internally (throughout your own site) and externally (getting other websites to link to you).  In the next few posts we’ll look at ways to optimize the internal link structure of your site and get other sites to link to yours.

Social Search:
Social SignalsSocial signals, like tweets, FB likes, Google+ shares and Google +1 are also starting to influence search results to varying degrees.  At this point most of this influence is through personalized results though they do also influence the universal rankings as well.

The key to increasing the social signal for your web pages is getting people to like, share, tweet, +1, etc your pages.  In the coming articles we’ll explore ways to get more people to click those social buttons.

By increasing the competitiveness of your website through link building and social media, your site will be able to rank for better and better keywords which will drive more traffic to your site and help you to better achieve the goals you have for your website.
